A very hardy tart cherry that is excellent for pies, jams and cobblers. Originated in Canada near Edmonton, Alberta. Thrives in very cold climates where many other tart cherry varieties fail. Noted for exceptionally high yields. Fruit has bright red skin and yellow flesh. Ripens mid-late July. Self-fertile. Zones 3-8
Montmorency Cherry (new)
The Montmorency is the most popular pie and dessert cherry in North America. Large, bright red fruit is very attractive, with firm yellow flesh. The Montmorency Cherry Tree is very cold tolerant, and disease resistant. This heavy producer of excellent sour cherries is also highly prized for its medicinal properties. The Montmorency Source Cherry Tree is self-fertile and ripens in late-July. Zones 4-8
